J.J. Wilcox left 49ers’ facility without signing, now plans to sign with Jets
So much for J.J. Wilcox signing with the 49ers.
Wilcox was in the 49ers’ facility intending to sign a contract today, but he had a last-minute change of heart and now plans to sign with the Jets, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Although Wilcox and the team had agreed to terms, he suddenly backed out today and decided he wants to play for Jets head coach Todd Bowles, according to the report.
I’d be stunned if Aaron Donald reports to the Rams’ facility absent a new contract anytime soon. Things are a little less certain as to Khalil Mack’s plans on showing up to acclimate to new Raiders coach Jon Gruden’s program. View photos Aaron Donald should be in for a big payday—but he’ll still be chasing quarterbacks on the highest-paid scale.
I am very sorry, Edelman wrote. I don’t know what happened. I’ve taken many, many tests obviously over the course of my career, and nothing like this has ever happened. I apologize to the Kraft family, my coaches, teammates and fans. As this matter is being appealed, I can’t say anymore but no matter what, I will be ready to play and pursue another championship with our team and for Patriots fans around the world.
Trainer Alex Guerrero, who works with Edelman, Tom Brady and other Patriots players, released a statement on Thursday that called the news disappointing while adding that anyone suggesting he gave Edelman a banned substance is irresponsible and just plain wrong.
Assuming the suspension is upheld, Edelman will be able to practice and play in the preseason before serving his suspension to start the regular season.
Falcons wide receiver Jones expected to skip organized team activities More Julio Jones is expected to be absent when the Atlanta Falcons begin organized team activities on Monday, and the wide receiver would like some sort of correction or update to his contract, according to an NFL Network report Friday. Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Falcons are not overly worried about Jones missing OTAs, and they are amenable to tweaking his contract — which still has two years remaining. Per the report, because Jones is a great player and good teammate, management has no particular aversion to addressing Jones’ deal.
